Your list looks pretty good, but don't forget Possession-A.S. Byatt.
It's hard to believe the book club has been meeting for more than a year.

I know - and we've read such wildly different books. I actually forgot quite a few of them and Marcus had to remind me. I'm already looking for my next suggestions. I finished The Gathering today - I'll let you know my opinion if/when we ever go back to work. It's definitely not Chick-lit!

How is Middlesex?

We have read quite a variety - very impressive. I know I didn't read them all, but I've gone back and am actually reading In Cold Blood right now (it was on my list to read before the book club, but I couldn't read it at the time). Still have not read Return of the Native - that's one I might not get to. I recently went a little crazy on b&n.com so I have some suggestions for the next book; however, I'd like to see some suggestions from genres we haven't read (sci-fi, chicklit (is there a male equivelant for this?), romance, erotica - that one's for you Katherine). Since I wouldn't normally read these on my own, if someone out there is into those genres, please make some suggestions!
What's up with work - y'all off again?

I am enjoying Middlesex. Jeffrey Eugenides is a very good writer and has turned his personal story into an American epic. The story is much more than his own difficult coming of age; it's the story of our society in the late twentieth century. I'm about two thirds thru and can't put it down. One good thing about not having work is that I get to read all day!

I'm stuck on page 120 of Midnight's Children. It slowly starts building speed but I need to take an Indian history course or stay glued to wikipedia to get all of the references. All of the books on my list now are less than 250 pages.

Christine - what is the name of the website you mentioned last time for the short book club picks?

It was lazyreaders.com There is a lot to sort thru, and some people's ideas of short ain't mine, but it's still pretty cool.
